Representatives of the Initiative Committee backing Andrey Gyurov and Georgi Kandev submitted to the Central Election Commission the documents for their registration as candidates for president and vice president in the October 25 elections. The documents, together with a petition bearing 6,000 signatures, were filed by the Initiative Committee's co-chairman Konstantin Valkov and committee member, attorney Vasil Stefanov. The candidates themselves, Andrey Gyurov and Georgi Kandev, were also present at the meeting. "We expect a direct campaign, close to Bulgarian citizens, through meetings and conversations with them," Gyurov said. According to him, their priorities are to give citizens a strong voice and an independent president they can rely on. Gyurov noted that Bulgarian citizens currently have the power and the opportunity to change the country's course, adding that he is grateful for their support since he talks with them every day. "We are entering this campaign with a single goal — victory. It won't be a victory for us, but for Bulgarian citizens," Gyurov also said. He stressed that their pledge is to carry the closeness, openness and integrity of the election campaign into the mandate itself.
