Ivanka Kotorova-Duhlakova says she wants to help drive the reform of the judiciary, especially the prosecution service, if she wins a seat on the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC). She is a prosecutor in the International Department of the Supreme Court of Cassation prosecutor's office and is running in the prosecutors' quota, BTA reported.
She gave her reasons at the hearing of candidates. She said she would bring great professional and life experience, as well as personal authority.
She proposed that the prosecution service and the court system go digital by 2027. In the first two years of the SJC's term, she said, case registry work should also change, so that paper files and ledgers are no longer used. She also proposed a digital map to manage property.
On staffing policy, she wants openness, fairness and digital tools. For forensic expert work, she proposes a single law and an independent oversight body. She also wants changes to criminal law and to the way laws are made.
Kotorova said the judiciary must be representative and truly independent as political pressure grows. Justice must be faster, she said, and the routine delays in cases must end.
On the SJC, she said she would work for fair and effective discipline, for training at the National Institute of Justice and for the use of European standards. She proposes that the SJC build ties with European and international bodies. Better cooperation and openness, she said, will strengthen public trust.
