Veselka Zlateva-Kozhuharova, a candidate for the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), proposes a special email address where judges could put questions to the council. She says this would let the council and judges talk more directly.
She also plans a system to track the replies. Zlateva-Kozhuharova heads the Administrative Court in Pazardzhik.
Her second idea is that some members of the Judges' Chamber should keep in touch with courts and learn on the spot about their staffing, organisational and material problems. She also proposes that chamber members hold reception hours for every judge, not only for court heads.
In her policy paper, she promises to work for a stronger judicial system and for a council that guarantees the independence of magistrates and predictable career development for them. She pledges to be independent in her judgments, consistent in her positions and answerable to the trust placed in her.
She has been part of working groups of the SJC and the Ministry of Justice on judicial mediation, order-for-payment proceedings and restorative justice. She has also attended more than 130 training courses, seminars and conferences.
