Bulgaria's National Protection Service (NSO) has ordered a check on the actions of its officers after an incident involving journalist Sonya Koltuklieva of the PIK news agency at an event with protected officials. The service said so earlier today.

Asen Vasilev, leader of "We Continue the Change", posted a video of the incident on Facebook and called what happened "complete loss of self-control".

The footage shows the journalist opening the rear door of a car carrying parliament speaker Mihaela Dotsova. An NSO officer walks up to her and pushes her away, and she falls to the ground.

In the same post, Vasilev wrote: "On Sunday we have a chance to show them that the state is not theirs. Bulgaria is yours."

Updated (22.10, 23:09): The military prosecutor's office has been told about the case, the National Protective Service (NSO) said. The journalist was examined in the emergency department of the Military Medical Academy and sent home for treatment, the hospital said. President Iliana Yotova strongly condemned the NSO officer's excessive reaction. Atanas Atanasov of Democratic Bulgaria (DB), a deputy speaker of parliament, called on speaker Mihaela Dotsova to resign.
