Haskovo council is handing out leaflets today at its town hall on what to do if someone shows signs of a stroke. 29 October is World Stroke Day.
The Stroke and Aphasia Association is running a series of events, and the council is a regular partner. The association's national campaign is called "Every minute counts" and says treatment options depend on time.
The leaflets explain what to do if a relative or friend has symptoms.
Warning signs include a face that suddenly droops, a weak arm or trouble speaking. Proper treatment early on raises the chance of limiting the damage.
If you suspect a stroke, call 112 at once. Do not wait for the symptoms to pass.
