Firefighters put out 171 fires across Bulgaria in the past 24 hours, and no one was hurt, the Fire Safety and Civil Protection Directorate said on its website. Crews responded to 209 calls in total.
Eighteen of the fires caused direct property damage: 8 in homes, 4 in outbuildings, temporary or makeshift structures, and 2 in vehicles. The rest were of other types.
A total of 153 fires caused no damage. Most of them, 103, were in dry grass, forest litter and brush. Another 37 were in waste and 4 in stubble fields. The rest were of other types.
Crews carried out 27 rescue and assistance operations. In 3 cases, firefighters helped at vehicle crashes. In 23 they gave technical help, and in 1 they used alpine rescue techniques to help an injured person.
Eleven of the calls were false alarms.
