Foreign minister Velislava Petrova leaves for the Netherlands on October 5 for a working visit, the foreign ministry says. In The Hague, she will meet her Dutch counterpart, Tom Berendsen.
She is also due to meet Marcin Czepelak, secretary general of the Permanent Court of Arbitration. There, the Bulgarian minister will hand over a gift from Bulgaria: an oak lectern made by hand at the Tryavna National High School of Applied Arts, known as the Tryavna School. The lectern will join the collection at the Peace Palace, home to the court, the oldest and busiest international court in the world.
The foreign ministry says the gift reflects Bulgaria's long-standing commitment to international law and to settling disputes peacefully.
Petrova will also visit the Netherlands Institute of International Relations, Clingendael, where she will discuss diplomatic training, cooperation between institutions, and connectivity.
