Prime minister Rumen Radev voted, then told reporters what he had voted for.
"I voted for the presidency to remain a pillar of the state, of national identity and of the public will for justice," Radev said.
He said the office he voted for still speaks for Bulgarian citizens, whatever the shifts in politics.
Radev added that he also voted for an office that continues to chart Bulgaria's European course not with slogans and poses, but with experience, knowledge and conviction.
